Islam and Paganism!
This is the one time that the bible mentions something that is still practiced today across the Middle-East, the acknowledgement of justifying self slashing! For them it means the shedding of sins, but this is a false idea and has nothing to do with faith in God!
The cutting of the flesh is as old as men were on the Earth and it probably started in the days of Tubal-Cain before the great flood, but like all sins it has continued! Today we see it in tattooing and many have tried to justify it, but we must not run against God because He wants the best for all of us!
